Preschool for Blind Children
Early basic education for children serves as the foundation of knowledge and intelligence for every child. For 16 years now, Resources for the Blind, Inc. offers a preschool program for visually impaired children in the Greater Manila Area.
In order to fully adapt with other students in elementary, the preschool of RBI presets and prepares the visually impaired students before they enter as integrated students in regular elementary schools.
Teacher Training Courses
Teachers are vital in the learning of every student especially for the visually impaired. For over 23 years, Resources for the Blind, Inc. has been capacitating regular elementary school teachers on special teaching techniques needed to facilitate visually impaired students in school.
Every summer, RBI offers a month long teacher training courses in Manila, Cebu, and Davao. This training equip teachers in handling both visually impaired and sighted students in just one regular class. Through this, more visually impaired students can enroll and attend classes in regular elementary schools in different parts of the country.
This effort of RBI is geared towards making education accessible to more visually impaired children in the Philippines.
Training for multi-handicapped children
Aside from being visually impaired, often times there are cases when other disabilities accompany visual impairment. Resources for the Blind, Inc. offers training for the parents of multi-handicapped children in order to train them in assisting their children to maximize their full potential and help them live a normal life.
Trainings for special education teachers are also offered by RBI to equip them with knowledge on how to best meet the needs of their multi-handicapped children.
Through this, Resources for the Blind, Inc. believes that there is no reason for our handicapped brothers and sisters not to reach their full potentials.
